Description
Vitamin C is as an antioxidant which is needed for the proper operation of many physiological functions. It is essential for the formation of collagen and intercellular material, and therefore necessary for the proper development of cartilage, bone, teeth and for the healing of wounds. It also acts to provide support during stressful situations (caused, for instance, by vaccination, diseases, transport, high humidity, high temperatures or extreme temperature changes). Ascorbic acid is a strong aqueous antioxidant and acts as a cofactor for many enzymes. It is one of the strongest reductants and radical scavengers, acting as a primary defense against aqueous radicals in the blood.
